Yeah, no shit. That's why I don't pay a professional investor. All they do is move money around and charge fees.

I find this to be the irony of finance. There's so much talk of big deals, trades, working the market, but the big banks and financial houses make a fortune off of recurring fees, incremental fees, nickel and diming the fuck out of ignorant saps - and enough ignorant saps to make a tidy profit.

The stock market is inherently unpredictable because it's not really quantitative. It's tied to human behavior, not some innate logic.

KM.as.a.dot said:People like me make money off of the ignorance of people like you. Sorry, it's just the way things are done. There really is nothing you can do about it; the game is rigged so that you will be slowly stripped of net worth over they years: As much as possible without doing it suddenly or disruptively enough to make you realize it is happeneing, and to allow you to preserve some wealth.

That'S just the way it is, son.

Oh it's predictable, alright. Just not by the little-guy individual investor.

The market has never been more rigged and manipulated than it is now. If you don't have access to HFT platfoms, you can't piss in the tall grass with the big dogs. But if you do, there's almost no end to the money you can make.

BTW, I live in Japan.

 Actually, you are right. I'm talking about predictable from an academic or removed investor-observer standpoint. Again, it's lack of data and trading software.

A Racehorse With No Name

On the first part of the journey,
I was looking at all the life.
There were manga and sushi and soba and things,
There was bonzai and anime and The Ring.
The first thing I met, was a chick with a buzz,
And the sky, with no clouds.
The heat was hot, and the ground was dry,
But the air was full of sound.

I've been through the Japans on a racehorse with no name,
It felt good to be out of the states.
In teh Tokyos, you can remember your name,
Cause there aint no Juice for to give you no pain.
La, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
La, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la

After two years, in the Tokyo sun,
My skin began to turn red.
After three years, or Roppongi fun,
I was looking like a river bed.
And the story it told, of bubble-era cash that flowed,
Made me sad Roppongi was dead.

You see I've been through the Japans on a racehorse with no name,
It felt good to be out of the rain.
In the Tokyos, you can remember your name,
'Cause there ain't no Juice for to give you no pain.
La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
