My father, aunt and I went out to Tahrir Square today to check out what was happening. I was going to stay inside, take it easy, I didn't need to go..but dad said it would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience and so far the day had proved to be peaceful. The feared riots and violence were not the case and people with their families were out enjoying the festivities. I was cautious, being a blonde female, going out into this crowd, and we wanted to go before nightfall..just to be safe..
My mom was worried for me to be in Egypt these days considering the stories of rape she had heard on the news. It seemed safe enough and my Egyptian born and raised aunt and dad, who is part Egyptian, speaks fluently and has been living there for half his life said there was no danger. All was fine. We entered the square and it seemed to be the liberals out and about, the younger people for whom the Revolution was a promise and I saw other foreigners. We were there maybe 10 mins when we had headed into the center to see what was going on and turned back due to the pushing of the crowds in order to avoid a problem. On the way back out my aunt and I felt men grabbing our behinds, groping and squeezing. So I jumped and she realized what was happening to me, then it happened to her and we both covered our butts with our hands and kept walking forward. The grabbing got more frequent and we got surrounded. It got more aggressive and we were being pushed...some men came around us like they were trying to protect us and my dad was staying with us.. but he couldn't stop the men from grabbing me..and I could swear some of the men trying to protect me were groping me.I started yelling in English and Arabic, pushing them off me and then started screaming.
The three of us got led around a corner and i was continually grabbed until we were up against an aluminum garage door where I crouched down to avoid being touched.My dad informed me while beside me that his phone and wallet had been taken. I still had my Egypitan id and old phone which I had taken to video the positivity..put it away 10 mins before...my aunt was beside us. we were being pushed by a huge crowd against the wall. Some men who were saying they were trying to help told me to go under the partially open garage door to escape but it wasn't large enough for me to slide under and I was afraid of getting stuck and more easily attacked as I would have had to turn around to slide under and then what awaited

.. awaited me on the other end? I didn't know who to trust.. then I got separated from my dad and aunt, surrounded by 40 men who were trying to protect me and grope me.. when my arms weren't being held I pushed their hands off of me.. when my arms were held I bite at the men whose arms and hands were hurting me.I kicked at men as they got closer in the crotch determined to fight them off, screaming the whole time. I then got lifted and carried towards an open space where I could no longer fight them off...my pants had an elastic waist..I had been wearing comfortable, loose fitting clothing because I had spent the day in the hospital with my grandmother, the reason I am here despite my mom's fears.. and we just wanted to go out quickly and see what was happening so I hadn't changed into jeans with a belt. I couldn't fight them off fast enough so to keep my pants up and their hands out of my pants I was unable to stop them from my groping/pinching my breast to the point my shirt and sweater were torn.I fell to the floor, took the fetal position and protected my neck.eventually they lifted me,exposed my breasts,i held my pants.dad who was being kicked and beaten finally got back to me to try to cover me and I was groped as I was led to the washing area of the mosque where I was safe.My dad came mins later.men inside were apologizing for what had happened,gave me clothes to cover myself.30 mins later amid the mob were escorted out to car that drove us home for reward. can't tell if heroes n villain were same group?

Any women especially blondes going to Egypt now,is asking to be raped.There's no control over this crime or punishment also some women didn't reveal all that they did to them,which is a signal to raped them horribly and little is revealed.Something needs to be done,if just a warning to the rest of the world.This is serious!

I am not trying to make it better than it was or worse than it was or sensationalize it ,that's what happened .Lara said that in her interview in May ,if you don't believe that then you think she is lying!
No. Even in MAY she was in NO condition to really think clearly about what she said or not said. It is extremely unfair to even consider her lying because she - even if she is tough as hell - was already suffering under extreme PTSD. Additionally what we saw was an edited interview more or less edited together by other people than Lara. Did she nod it off? Yes. But that does not mean anything because she was in no condition to actually decide anything.
Afterwards she chose to talk about the parts in the interview and not mention - possible - further actions (abuses) perpetrated against her. In my book that is not lying. I would never think of anyone lying under these circumstances.
That is an unbelievable stupid remark. I acknowledge that there were false rape claims but even then the women that have done it did not do it out of "regrettable consensual sex". They did if to avenge themselves or destroy the man out of other reasons they may have had. Women are no angels. They feel hate and anger and bitterness the same way as men.
Why do we suppose that women who lie about rape do it out of one stupid reason that does not make one iota of sense when thinking about it? That is in itself an incredible misogynistic and weird thought process.

She should have sensationalize it,to bring attention to it.She should have told every single drop of details from beginning to end,then become a crusader against the raping of women in Egypt and other countries,that allow these type of horrible attacks to take place.Many women are now being groped and raped because this situation was swept under the rug.
Well the problem is that Crusading is not paid. Last time i checked she was wealthy but not exactly Warren Buffet. She has a job she likes doing journalism not Crusading. Journalism and Crusading does not go well together (in most cases)
I also think it would have been better to tell every single drop of details but for other reasons than deterrence. It would have been better for her more therapeutic so to speak and it would have been more difficult for the egyptian military to deny it or ignore it. Notice that the egyptian administration has not commented the attack on her in the slightest. That is in itself very weird and very strange.
But from what she said in the interview it was clear that it was bad what happened very bad. So she cannot be blamed for not "warning" people.

the string of sexual assaults we have been seeing over the last week is actually a positive development. becuase now it becomes more likely that maybe soon we may get to see some really kick ass footage of some stupid chic who should not have been there anyway getting totally violated by a group of horny men, and not just stripped and groped either, but getting a good hard ramrodding. hopefully its someone really hot. not to mention the fact that maybe, just maybe, this may cause someone to finally post something of the Logan attack.

Then it's not the secret police who attacked Lara Logan; it was a bunch of guys who saw the opportunity to assault a woman. This is similar to the Puerto Rican day parade 2000 in NYC.
I agree, but I,m sure that the police are encouraging the chaos by either busing the goons in and maybe even paying them. but are not there directing it, they are told that if you think they are journalists then assault them.
