Well...in a situation where food is scarce it could have been her only protein source: Piss and the like. There must have been absolutely horrific things done to her. Things she even could not tell her parents and family. Actually when i read your comments i understand why these ladies do not want to expose too many of the details what was done to them. The Audience - Narrator levels do not match. When you demand full honesty from Logan or Lindhout you have to react in a specific way as an audience...and we sorely lack in that regard i have to admit.
Well if more happened than just raped with hands we can assume that happened as well. The more important question is how we deal with it? Is pissing on someones face automatically make that person smaller and less valued? That would be stupid to assume right?

I've been blggoing since 2007 so I've been there and done that. I know how people feel about this matter. Always remember that Blogging is very fluid and changes constantly. Being flexible and taking advantage of ways to be different will serve you well. Originality is the key! Don't imitate anybody.
Logan told CPJ that she had experienced sexual violence in the course of her reporting before--in one instance, a man had violently grabbed her breasts in Afghanistan
I thought she said the Afghans wouldn't dare touch her. Liar!

I've been following this blog for about a year I have to say that what happened to Lara the other women in Egypt was truly horrible and I don't want to diminish that but to be held captive for 15 months by 14 to 18 year old boys shackled, tortured, starved, and raped is beyond horrific. What I'm about to say may seem extremely harsh and insensitive and I'm sure some of you will not be shy about chastise me, but what happened to Lara and the others that were attacked for 30 to 40 min. Looks like a day at the beach with friends. Sorry Lara, my heart goes out to you and all the other victims.

NO its okay. What Lindhout had to suffer was really apocalyptic. I think Lara herself would also agree. That does not mean though that what Lara suffered was NOT HORRIBLE. It was horrific in the most terrible way.

That was the man who was almost killed by her afghan host. Do you remember? Exactly that story.
Lindhout just doesn't want to say they pooped on her face. She'll probably admit to pulling nightly gangbangs but not the humiliating stuff like being forced to drink her own piss which probably happened.

It's not about the audience. Who gives a fuck what a bunch of people you will never meet think of you? It's about being honest with yourself and your family and giving people the real truth to shed light on criminal behavior so we as a people can honestly assess and work toward change.

Just as Lara's crew could hear her screaming before she surrender, while being assaulted and raped, after Amanda and Brennan failed escape attempt, conditions worsened for Amanda, they were separated and the raping truly began, and just as Lara's crew,Brennan could hear her screaming many times from being assaulted,Amanda said "We shared the experience of being kidnapped, but we did not share experiences within the kidnapping", Amanda said "I think it would destroy Nigel(Brennan) to know some of the things that happened...He is aware how bad it was.He could hear some of the things that were happening...Adding color and detail to the stories isn't help to him".If Brennan would have found out what they were doing to Amanda,it would have broken his heart, for he could do nothing.Raping women is in their religion and by-laws).Brennan was spared from being raped only tortured, and that was even less because of it.

That...is a contradiction.
You say: Who gives a fuck what a bunch of people you will never meet think of you?
then you say: giving people the real truth
and you say: so we as a people can honestly assess and work toward change
Sorry but you completely contradict yourself. OR you mean you DO something for the people AND do not care what they think of you?
That would be possible but...feels strange too. The thing is you cannot separate the audience from the people because the people are the audience. Or do you separate the people into bad worthless people (the ones that use media) from the good worthwhile people (the ones that do not use media)?
